Why EX-DOS Was Developed:

EX-DOS was developed so that people wouldn't have to live in the harsh world of Microsoft software anymore. I created a version of DOS that not only ran properly, but ran efficiently and effectively. I sought out to create a version close to MS-DOS 5.0, but currently am at about 4.0.

Overview:

EX-DOS 1.0 is a relatively advanced operating system. It combines many features from MS-DOS and incorporates them into a new, better operating system. Some new features are the way EX-DOS uses memory and new commands and programs. If you are running Windows 3.x or lower, you'll want to use EX-DOS 1.0 because its memory features make your EX-DOS programs run faster and more efficiently.

EX-DOS 1.0 has the following features:

  • EX-DOS Editor, a new full-screen text editor that you can use easily create and modify text files.
  • EX-DOS File Manager, a new user interface for managing files.
  • Multiple games, both graphical and text-based featuring The Adventures of Boboli, The Mighty Knight! by Mike Hommel.
  • Doskey, a program you can use to recall, edit, and carry out commands you have already used.
  • Online Help for all EX-DOS commands and EX-DOS File Manager.
  • The ability to access more that two hard disk drives, support for 2.88 floppy disks, and the ability to search for files through multiple levels of directories.
