6/6/2007 Me and Sam are almost done with finals, and are getting married on August 4th (invitations to be sent soon). We are really looking forward to our wedding and honeymoon! I also set up a web site with some of my photography on it: http://oregonstate.edu/~backmant/

10/31/2006 Me and Sam are planning a boat trip to the San Juan Islands for our honeymoon. We hope to help my dad restore his antique diesel fishing boat, and take our trip on biodiesel!

3/6/2006 Me and Sam had an awesome time in the Yucatan! Maybe we will post our logs and photos up someday! Me and Isaac are planning a trip to Arizona, Northern Mexico, and Southern California for spring break! We are leaving March 24th, and returning April 2nd. We are currently looking for a 3rd person to travel with us. We will travel hard an fast, and cover almost 4000 miles of road in this short time. If interested e-mail me!

11/19/2005 I figured I should give an update about once a year... so the site doesn't go down. Me and Samantha are going to the Yucatan Peninsula (in southern Mexico) Dec. 9th! We plan to put up a site on our new web server: http://ezc.ath.cx. -Tyler

9/4/2004 Ben is going back to asia.... I just dropped him off at the airport. I wish I could go but I'm starting school again next monday. See his blog: http://barberb.blogspot.com/ -Tyler

10/3/2003 Pictures added from Perhentian Island diving (See pic page). I had an excellent flight back to the US and I have now returned to the exciting "City of Oregon City." Me and some friends are starting a automotive performance company, and are looking for a large wearhouse (hopefully in Portland) where we can run our business, and work on our own projects. I may have found several people that would like to travel SE asia with me next summer. I am also trying to get some other projects completed, and hopefully find a job. -Tyler

9/29/2003 We are both in Kuala Lumpur, and Tyler is going to fly out from Kuala Lumpur International early tomorrow morning. We just went to see the Petronas Twin towers (one of the tallest buildings in the world) but apparently they don't allow tourists to go up them on mondays.

9/26/2003 I am having an awesome time in Thailand, and have made many friends, but I must take the train back to Kota Bharu tomorrow (see official itinerary). I had heard a lot of misinformation about Thailand, but I now wish I had spent more of my trip here. I will definately come back. A waitress I met said she has a (uncle?) who is a Buddhist monk, and if he gave me a reccomendation I could study as a monk for free. Anyway, the story is pages long and I don't have time to write about it all right now. -Tyler

9/25/2003 I spent most of the last week jungle trekking in Kenong State park, and am now trying to "quickly" see Thailand in the time I have left before returning to the US. I am currently in Bangkok (capital), and may spend a few days here before heading south. Ben is in Kota Bharu, still looking for an apartment. I am trying to quickly update other parts of the site as I have time, but don't want to waste too much time on the computer. -Tyler

9/18/2003 We are both back in Kota Bharu, after spending several days in the Jungle. Isaac made it safely to Chile, read his log here.

9/13/2003 We are in Kuala Tahan (across the river from the Taman Negara headquarters). They will not allow us to climb Gunung Tahan alone, and we missed the last (and only) group. A group from Britan left for the summit at 9am the day before. We are still going to spend a few nights in the jungle, but staying less than 20km from Kuala Tahan, in the most commonly travelled areas (see current plans page).

9/12/2003 A lot of stuff happened since last update. We were unable to enter Taman Negara from Merapoh, and are entering from Kuala Tahan at the park entrance. We may just camp in the jungle instead of climbing the mountain, more info will be posted later. We are waiting at the boat station to go to the park, and I will try to update the other pages as much as possible before we go. Remeber: To e-mail us use the addresses listed below (on 8/27/2003). Tyler uses cNOSPAMasioqv@usermail.com NOT casioqv @ anything else (yahoo, aol, etc.).

9/9/2003 We leave for Taman Negara early in the morning tomorrow, and plan to be gone for 4-11 days. Check "current plans" and "Travel Logs" for more info.

9/5/2003 Our friend Isaac is going to South America, and just put up a site for his trip. Click Here.

9/4/2003 New photos uploaded w/ descriptions. There are also new travel logs (check respective pages).

9/1/2003 We arrived safely in Kuala Lumpur (capital city of Malaysia) without any serious problems. In the Taipei airport we ran into a bit of an "engrish" problem with the automated monorail, and ben lost his plane ticket, but it worked out fine. Someone found the ticket and gave it to the China Airlines counter. We also lost our Train ticket from KL to Pasir Mas, but were able to have a new one printed (despite a policy against reprinting tickets). We met Yuki in the KL Sentral train station, and ate at the food court (the first Malay food we have ever had). Yuki ordered for us, and she tricked ben into getting something so spicy he couldn't eat it all, but what I had was excellent. The all night train ride was excellent, and in the morning we could see parts of the protected jungle near the national park, and it was one of the most beautiful and interesting things I have ever seen. We arrived in the Pasir Mas rail station two hours late, and quickly found Nina and her friend Nasha. All 4 of us packed into a datsun taxi which was just big enough to fit us by volume, but didn't seem to take into account the fact that we aren't liquid. We are staying at the Lonesome Travelers Lodge (lonesometravelers@ekno.com) in Kota Bahru. In the main room of the Hostel we met a group of Japanese girls who are taking a boat to Perhentian Besar island (offshore from Kelantan) tomorrow to go scuba diving, and we are going to join them, and return to Kota Bahru in a day or two. Photo page was not updated- we couldn't get the camera software loaded from the Internet Cafe (no cdrom). -Tyler
