Statement regarding Copyrights

Recently Yahoo - Geocities have added to their licence agreement clauses of the sort that newspapers have recently imposed upon their freelance writers. The intent in the case of the newspapers is to ensure a income stream of derivative works to benefit them but to which the authors will not. The idea is that the authors sell their copyright when they publish in those newspapers. These actions by the newspaper chains were loudly protested at the time but with their weight the newspapers got to dictate the terms. It is not for me to speculate as to why Yahoo - geocities has added these clauses. They do state that they do not own the content of the pages on Geocities on the one hand, but require that content be licensed on a perpetual term for their un restricted use including the right to "modify, adapt ...create derivative works...". This puts me in an ackward position. These User pages are intended for a non-profit non-aligned use to serve the shrinking community of users of Design computations DC/CAD. I recognize the need of the host to be profitable and support their right to add advertising (hopefully targeted), and would consider aiding them to seek other revenue if relevant products were offered. I do not use these pages to advertise for any other organization recognizing Yahoo - Geocities exclusive rights in that matter. But in order that these pages be able to offer public domain, freeware and/or shareware to users I need must be observant of the copyrights of others for the latter 2 and the responsibility to maintain the free use of the former. But for the possible use of the the words " modify, adapt .. create derivative works" I am fully accepting of the license agreement. The page designs themselves I do retain copyright just as a matter of course (since I will never seek any compensation for it considering the design to be free for copying in terms of style where no attempt to impersonatte these web pages exists). But to ensure the freeflow of users sharing their own created files (data files, libraries, software etc) as freeware or as shareware I must respect their rights to retain full copyright including the right to remove and the right to ensure that their work is not modified without their express written consent. Obviously Yahoo-Geocities will not waste their efforts on the types of files specific to these web pages, but on the matter of principle I am asking that you follow the link below to the mirror site. When Yahoo - geocites clarifies their license I will remove this page and allow the normal traffic to continue directly through this site.
These pages are to support users of Design Computation's CAD software DC/CAD.
This site is not related to Design Computation and was created after their bankruptcy.
