This page includes most of the 1,800 names collected in the geneological research of Frederick Morey Latham, Sr. He started tracking the immediate New Bern, North Carolina, branches, and has expanded his research to include assorted in-laws (no outlaws yet, but there's still time--I'm still looking for those Scots-Irish sheep rustlers that Frederick Phineas Latham reportedly claimed).
For more geneology information, see the Pitt County Family Researchers (PCFR) web site.
For stories about a few family members, see Sidebars.
For the record, these Lathams are not kin to the Lathams in Tamar Myers' recent very entertaining mystery novel, Baroque and Desparate. Those Lathams are decidedly more eccentric than we are! In the short story collection, "The First Lady Mysteries," another eccentric Latham appears. The popularity of this surname for eccentric literary characters is purely coincidental.
Fred Latham keeps track of the family tree using Family Edge. I'm experimenting the SoftKey's Family Tree to do some statistics. As soon as I figure out how to get only the last 100 years, I expect the statistics will change. Also, SoftKey has handled the Year 2000 problem by insisting on all four digits of a date. When a date has only two digits, Family Tree makes some interesting assumptions. Which is why the Morey men originally had an average life span of 175 years!
Family | Number of people | Average number of children | Average age on marriage | Average male life span | Average female life span |

We don't have all of the dates for marriages. But of the ones that we do:
Lathams and their kin in alphabetical order.
