Scene editor guide. Page 1

Getting started

Install the program and launch oglscenes.exe. You get what you see on the right.

Every action you take on the command window is reflected into a change of the scene you see in the frame window.

Initially no object is present in the scene so the frame window is black.

Using the two command page selection arrows you can browse the various command pages.
They are:
Projection
Lights
Textures
Objects
Options
Animated GIF

You see here the Projection page.

After adding some objects to the scene (press the Load file button and load this scene ) try experimenting a little.
Every object (or part of it !) that is nearer than the near clip plane or farther than the far clip plane is removed from the scene.
Modify the view angle (it is like zooming with a camera)
The default is a prospective projection (farther objects are smaller), if you enable the Orthogonal projection the view angle scroll bar disappears and two new scroll bars (Width and Height) appear. With them you can define the dimension of the volume you are looking at.

Try to modify your eye position: the X coordinate moves it left (negative) or right (positive), the Y coord moves it down (negative) or up, the Z coord moves forward (negative) or backward (positive).

Next page will teach you how to add objects to a scene.
