Work History

Phoenix Global Solutions, USA (Aug ?98 ? Till date)
Systems Analyst

Project Title : Production Support
Client : Phoenix Home Life, USA
Tools : IDMS Database Server and ADS/O, CICS as Front End
Role : Systems Analyst
Responsibility : Responsible for everyday production jobs in LRPS.
Summary : To ensure that LRPS (Life Reinsurance Processing System) is up and running, to check everyday reports and service user requests. Tasks mentioned above require system analysis, coding, testing and implementation of the modified code.

Project Title : Y2K Testing and Implementation
Client : Phoenix Home Life, USA
Tools : IDMS Database Server and ADS/O, CICS as Front End
Role : Systems Analyst
Summary : Was involved in the testing and implementation of the LRPS application, to make the system Year 2000 compliant. Testing was done in a test lab where the production environment was simulated and all the modified code was compiled. The database had to be modified to expand the date fields. The dates in the database was modified by filling in the century part. At the time of implementation, production data was downloaded, date expanded and then loaded to the modified database in production, all done successfully over the weekend.

Phoenix Global Solutions, Bangalore (India) (Jan ?97 ? Aug ?98)
Analyst

Project Title : GEO System
Client : Phoenix Home Life, USA,
Tools : IDMS / DB2 as Database Server, ADS/O / CICS as Front End
Role : Analyst/Programmer
Responsibility : Requirement specification of the application design, systems analysis, development of application, function specification, database design and system test.
Summary : This application was developed to create online insurance polices for the employees of the company. The online system was previously on IDMS and ADS/O. This had to be converted to DB2 and CICS as IDMS was being phased out. Here a database of network architecture (IDMS) had to be converted to relational (DB2) design. Also the front end, ADS/O, a 4th generation language, had to be converted to CICS, a 3rd generation language.

Project Title : Y2K Modifications
Client : Phoenix Home Life, USA,
Tools : IDMS Database Server and ADS/O, CICS as Front End
Role : Analyst / Programmer
Responsibility : Analysis and Code changes
Summary : The date expansion method to solve the Y2K problem was adopted. The code was scanned for date fields and expanded.

Project Title : ADS/O Training from COMPUTER ASSOCIATES (London)
Client : Phoenix Home Life, Bangalore,
Tools : IDMS Database Server and ADS/O as Front End
Role : Analyst / Programmer
Responsibility : Understanding ADS/O environment
Summary : IDMS database works well with ADS/O environment, a 4th generation language. For code modifications, ADS/O system functionality had to be understood.

Significant Achievements

· Training ? involved in giving training to new employees. Training was done for the IDMS, ADS/O and CICS environments. Another set of people were trained on Revolve (A Y2K tool). Both these training was for a period of 2 weeks and for a group of 20 people.

· Making LRPS Y2K compliant ? successfully modified LRPS to make it Y2K compliant and implemented LRPS into production on time.

· Best Technical person ? awarded the best technical person of the year for (1997 - 1998).
