Sonic & The 7 Rings Updates Presented by Ron The Echidna Right! About me: I'm 16, English and unexperienced. My only other Sonic game I've helped create is Sonic Robo Blast 3d, by Johnny Wallbank and Sonic Team Junior. I'm trying to do this game as close to the originals as possible, but it'll be hard. 16th February The game is just undergoing some final changes before I put up this website and unleash it on the public. So far only a few of the AFSHers have seen it, but all that will change. The first beta release (The one you should be downloading now...You're not? Do it!) includes the first zone, called The Shining Island, plus a basic special stage. Here's the plan with special stages. Some are going to be 3d, others aren't. Seen as the 3d ones will be more complicated to program, there aren't any in the current release. All special stages are going to have different objectives. WHile one may be a straightforward "grab-the-emerald-and-get-out", others may require you to smash a certain number of badniks. Tip: Use the password "eggonlegs" to view a weird version of the first sequence! 27th February The beta release that was released last week has a few faults in it, the main one being that you couldn't finish Act 2. Version 1.1 is now available. I've joined a webring! I hooked up with the Super Sonic Webring to get more traffic to my site. I'm still looking for lots of help. After spending a whole day making an exact copy of the Sonic 3 bubblegum machine special stage, I was rather annoyed to find that the poor quality of Click 'N Create's programming meant that even though I'd programmed it correctly, the damn thing wouldn't run properly. If you want to see what this stage would have looked like, use the password "dopeshow" to access it. 7th March I've now included a fabulous two player mode! Now you can race round Hidden Palace and The Doomsday zones with another player! I strongly advise you to download this new version. It's probably the best thing I've ever done! 11th March No longer Anti-Sonic Adventure! After playing it, I've decided that even though some of the characters have got stupid new images, it's possibly the best game I've ever played. Also, seen as the two player levels were such a success, I'm thinking of making the rest of the game the same way, with smaller screens and faster scrolling. This will mean remaking level 1. 19th August Sorry about the lack of updates, but I haven't had a lot to talk about! The source code is being done, some 3D cutscenes are being made by Sneeky, and Andre Schroder is doing some fabulous new music. Not much in the actual game has been done, but it's all starting to come together. I've also been playing around with the plot and trying to work out as many advanced features as I can. 12th September As the game's reputation spreads, I've been having more and more high quality work sent to me for inclusion. However, I can't fit everything in the game. So now, I'm afraid to say that any new applications to work on music, programming or initial ideas will be ignored. Sorry! I've already had quite a few emails from people saying that this is the best fan-game ever! Still, you ain't seen nothing yet! The full version is absolutely amazing! It has been programmed in C, and includes advanced features such as spin-dash attacks, gliding for Knuckles, flying for Tails, and all the other things you'd expect to see in a high quality Sonic game. The programmer wishes to remain anonymous until the game is nearing completetion. Everyone else helping out can be found on the Credits page.
