Information Technologies related

Certainly the bulk of books I read are dealing with computers and what runs on them.

  • Java 2

My favorite language not really because of the hype.

Beginning Java 2 - Jdk 1.3 Version

Ivor Horton
An excellent introduction into the language not only covering the surface features. There might be only a few books being more detailed but the way this book is written classifies it best choice for learning Java 2.
Professional Java Server Programming

Hans Bergsten, Jason Diamond
Danny Ayers, Sing Li
and others
Java server programming might be the area where the language makes the best sense. Who ever wants to enter this world might want to find out what is doable in this book. Most of the chapter provide profound knowledge ready to start with. Some of the parts like Jini you might be inspired to get books going into depth.
Professional Jini

Sing Li, Ronald Ashri
Jerome Scheuring

and others
Don't presume any abbreviation behind  Jini - there is none. Expect a nice distributed services network technology behind it that has the potential to change the way we do networking in the near future. This book shows in exact detail how it works and highly stimulates to use it extensively.
