My Town - Duga Resa
|
Duga Resa - once a village, then a small township, and today a muncipal town in central Croatia - has been
omitted from the thousand year long history of these parts. Attempts have been made to relate the name of this
place to tales and legends but they failed to stir the imagination of local people who were engaged in the constant
task of ekeing out their existence on this barren soil. Duga Resa would certainly have remained on the periphery
of history, had not a textile factory been erected more than hundred years ago, in
1884. This factory was destined to become a giant in cotton industry.

Regardless of your destination or transportation, when travelling across Croatia, you will surely pass through
Duga Resa and its surroundings, where your eyes will enjoy the untouched nature with its four jewels, the rivers
Mreznica, Dobra, Korana and Kupa. The blue-green Mreznica, Croatia's most beautiful river, is particulary
interesting during summer, when its beauty, unique color, delightfuly clean water, limy barriers, cascades, rapids
and waterfalls attract many swimmers, fishers, hunters and tourists. The tempting rapids and waterfalls of the
river Dobra invite all aquatic sports lovers, giving them full satisfaction. Anglers cannot agree which fish is
better: the sheat-fish out of Mreznica, the trout from Dobra, the marble trout of the Kupa or the pike from the Korana.
Along the winding rivers, green valeys and round wavy hills one can find charming weekend cottages and several
good restaurants offering hospitality, giving something unique, something new, something for one's soul - a breath
of untouched nature.
