Informatics National Graduation - related stories and pictures

28th October 2000

For 25-year old Alice Chin who graduated with a Bsc in Business Computing and IT, last Saturday's graduation held a special meaning for her as both her younger siblings also graduated and her parents were present to share the joy.

Alice, who joined Informatics as a course consultant in 1995 at its Kajang branch was recently promoted to business manager at Informatics and she takes care of sales and marketing of core products that includes the Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies 2000 as well as the Diploma in E-Commerce.

Among those who graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Business Computing and IT) was John Lee. He jokingly remarked that he was "27" because no matter how we tried, John refused to divulge his real age.

John was the most grandest among this year's degree graduates. His fellow graduates were seen congratulating him and it surely proves that age is never a reason to stop learning.

Also graduating together with Alice was her younger brother, 24-year old Chin Kien Wing. Chin is currently a system administrator at a local company while 22-year old younger sister, Chin Siew Fui, a sales coordinator, has since enrolled into the Bachelor of Information Technology course, an Australian degree program available at Informatics.

Other UOW graduates included 30-year old web programmer and ex-Informatics lecturer Andrew Ooi who was at the graduation with girlfriend Sarah Kee, a former course consultant at Informatics.

Another was 24-year old Umadevi a/p Muthusamy. Working as an administration clerk, Umadevi graduated with a Bachelor of Computing and IT. Umadevi said that she intends to do her Masters within the year.
