Very interesting feature of checker is it's ability to calculate real file reading speed that you have with specified device controlling by current driver in the OS you use.This may be greatly useful to compare drive's performance or tuning system parameters.

Another feature -- file-level reading check -- may be useful to look for potential problems on the CD and old hard drives. Really, if some bit of a given file requires times more time to read than others it means that the corresponding block of the drive is unreliable, and soon may become unavailable. This can protect you from data loss caused by surface aging.
