Coming From Behind!

We all know that Warcraft II is a game where economy is everything. In this game the man with the most gold is nearly destined to be the victor. However there may be times when you will find your enemy has gotten the upperhand and mined a lot more gold than you. There is hope for people in this situation, however it will take a lot of quick thinking and wise spending to come out on top. And it is also helpful if your enemy does some foolish spending as well.

First of all get familiar with the cost of upgrades and unit training and think of which will do the most damage and last the longest. For example, if you are using the humans Paladins can heal themselves and others. If you feel capable it could be wise to not bother with Archers because of the high price of upgrades. You can make mages to take care of the flying attacks and save money in the process. For the orcs you need to keep in mind that the Ogres cannot heal at all, although with Bloodlust effective they are a force to be reckoned with. The Trolls can regenerate and that can serve as a huge help. Take wounded axethrowers out of battle until they are healed.

The whole premise here is to conserve money. Do not waste money on foolish upgrades and unnecessary unit training. For example don't upgrade Ballistas or Catapults if you don't plan on protecting and using them wisely.

Mages for the humans can do wonders against an opponents economy as well. If your opponent is foolish enough to spend his money on Gryphons or Dragons make quite a few mages so that whenever he brings them on to you, you can simply polymorph them without a scratch. That is 2500 gold pieces down the tubes and you only spent some magic that will replenish. Enough mages can quelle any attack from the air. Mages are also effective for eliminating expensive Battleships and Juggernaughts as well as subs.

Be creative and kill off men with Polymorph or Blizzard, Death and Decay. Use your Sappers or Bombers to take exspensive men out or towers. The options are whatever you can come up with, but be sure to rub it in when you come out the victor and the gold shows your opponent was way ahead.

Good Luck!
