Jo-Ann Falls (And husband Ralph) COMMENT: "I am a housewife who has played
Video Games since the days of the Coleco-Vision. My favorite kind of game
is Role Playing and my favorite company is Working Designs. I bought your
Saturn In light of the fact that the Lunar series was being remade on it...
I have since bought 4 games for it. Legend of Oasis, Shining Wisdom, Dragon
Force and Iron Storm 3 of which are by Working Designs. I love them all!!
But I have heard that you treated them like garbage and they left. I believe
you owe them an apology and should make it up to them somehow. I had a
choice between Saturn or Sony and chose Saturn only for Working Designs.
Don't tell me my choice was the wrong one."

and he's even admitted it!!!! You'd better apologize to WD, support them,
advertise for them and kiss up big time you arrogant swine. I realize however
there are some people working at Sega who are very nice but the people

UberMar@aol.com COMMENT:
The root of all this evil is Bernie Stolar. Does anyone wonder why Sony
got
rid of this arrogant @$$hole? So Sega of America here is what you will
do: fire bernie stolar (who I honestly do not believe will be with Sega
in one year) before he does even more damage, apologize to Working Designs
and any
other developer that have been pissed off by Stolar (perhaps
this would explain why $hiny, Eido$ et al. left the Sega encampment so
easily), when all is right then you shall once again start getting my money.
Please do
something before the other Saturn stalwart, Capcom, gets abused and
abandons us.

doldridg@achilles.net
COMMENT: WD's track record when it came to releasing quality games and
in keeping
net readers informed is admirable, both at a level that most companies
(including SoA) can't meet. Because of this, WD gained many loyal
followers. And these people would sooner follow them onto the PSX
than lose them for good, which many (who don't already own a PSX) have
done.
Game Arts have released some good titles for Sega, and WD made them
available to US game buyers. Without WD, both SoA and its customers
lose.

I'd like to point you to a petition to save Lunar. The address is http://www.techhouse.brown.edu/drgnmstr/lunar/petition/petition.html

COMMENT: Geez, this time SoA has gone too far. They're already number
3 when it comes to being ranked by video game players, and here they go
and screw over one of their most loyal developers (translators).
Sega Enterprises Ltd. as a whole is a very cool company, it's just you
guys (Sega of
America) that's pissing all over Sega's good name!! You'd best
get WD back, lest we'll see how your new system (Dural) ranks among us
players...
-
Brandon spenoza@chattanooga.net
COMMENT: I think the language of this petition is a little strong, but
the message
is clear. Sega of America, you do owe Working Designs an apology. Whether
it fixes things or not is beside the point. These rifts need to be healed
and you need to be the first to move.

Remember that Sega??? Looks to me like it's a load of crap!! Way
to go Sega, set yourself a good goal and then do whatever it takes to destroy
it by insulting your best 3rd party company!! Very nice strategy
(heavy sarcasm). Apologizing is not enough Sega, you should guarantee
Working Designs full support for all of their future games and help advertise
them because their games is what could save your company in the U.S.

COMMENT: Sega, I have always been a loyal fan and Customer. I bought the
Saturn when it was still $300 with no game (And still really feel screwed
over now that it's half that price with 3 games....). I have always bought
Sega products before Nintendo and now Sony, but this time you have gone
too far, If you do not apologize to Working Designs and do whatever
it takes to get them back, I will not ever again buy a Sega product, including
your expensive new system when it comes out.
-
Craig Kazial, craigk@inspireddesign.com
SoA- Not only have you managed to drop the ball many times and constantly
have made mistakes, but now Sony doesn't even have to buy the companies
support, you'll just
alienate your loyal third party companies? A company that was
concerned over Sega displays and the ability to get the Sega backup carts?
A company that really helped bring many gamers over to the Saturn, including
myself? Anything less than a sincere and published apology to Working
Designs and getting them back to publishing the games we still want to
see on the Saturn has me leaving the Sega camp for good. You got
Bernie already touting the next system.. before we can even buy the first
netlink game. Your Sega owners have been run through the 32x/segacd/saturn
mill,
and now you rush us to the next system? You've treated your loyal
fans poorly, and now you manage to damage the ties with a great 3rd party
producer for Sega for a long time standing now. I'm certainly not
waiting for your next system with any enthusiasm, and in fact if WD has
left, I think the times right for me to move to greener (and more intelligent)
pastures as well.

Your arrogance astounds me, so I guess, I like others will have to buy
a PSX now, to play the best games. You guys ditched the best thing you
had: Working design, and now your paying for it (hopefully, if not Im sure
Bernie would be pleased to become a male prostitue to

Eric LordAsh@aol.com I
have never bought a Working Designs game, but they are very exceptional

Working Designs has many strong followers. That's too many people
for you to lose over to Sony. In a recent interview, which I read
at Next Generation, Lee McEany said that: "The most important thing for
Sega right now is keeping the people who like us, liking us..." Well
Sega, very many people are ready to abandon you if you dump working
Designs. You would be lying backstabbers if you don't apologize to
Working Designs and convince them to keep developing Saturn games.

to shape up!
-
Ben Averch, ben@quicklogic.com
Well, I agree that this whole thing with Sega and Working Designs is awful.
I can't think of any good reason for this to have happened. I feel like
Sega and Working Designs should behave like adults with the welfare of
consumers in mind, and not like spoiled children blaming each other, thumbing
noses at each other. Victor Ireland needs to be mature enough to reconcile
his differences with Sega for the benefit of his customers. Sega needs
to apologize and do whatever is necessary to bring this great company back
into the fold. If they are truly serious about
puting their customers needs first, then Sega and WD will sit down
together and work this whole mess out. If not, then we, the Sega Saturn
owners, are the ones who lose big time. Thanks a lot guys. Can't
we all just get along?
-
L.S. (Maverick) Strike@concentric.net
Saturn will be my last Sega product until you f*(ked up people clean
up your acts. Losing Tomb Raider2 is enough. But not Working Designs. Indeed
this is truly worse than 32x. I tryied my best to keep my cool before i
destroy my Saturn.
-
Jasper Karalakulasingam, Glug269@aol.com
Sega of America, how stupid can you be!! First the 32X, now wanting
to kick out your former loyal company out of your E3 booth, only to be
reprimanded by the bosses in Japan for your stupidity. What's next,
not porting over Grandia. If WD leaves, my main reason (the other
being the AM's arcade ports) for getting a Saturn will be gone. Good
job SoA, you've done it again.

Bernie Stolar is ruining the Saturn! You need to either make up with

Brad Kuhn bdavid@swbell.net
I was really shocked to hear about WD leaving Sega and now they are gonna

in this case WE (the game players) are the kids. This split needlessly

finally the fans lose out on many a great game. I hope to soon go to bed

In a recent interview with Next Generation Online, Lee McEnany, Sega of
America's Vice-President of Communications, said, "The most important thing
for Sega right now is keeping the people who like us, liking us and not
worry about anyone else." Well I've got news for the people at Sega,
angering Working Designs to the point where they aren't going to produce
any more games for the Saturn isn't going to keep us liking you.
WorkingDesigns puts out some of the best games of any system, and now they
are indanger of stopping development, because of Sega of America's blatent
stupidity. If you can't rectify this situation, don't count on me
ever buying another Sega product.

Rodney Desjarlais (Avatar)" COMMENT:
SEGA, your treatment of Working Designs not only damages your reputation,

what makes the Saturn2 attractive. If you lose Working

"Felicidad Pascual" COMMENT: I'll sell
my Saturn if I don't get to play a translated version of Iron Storm II:
The Last of the Millenium. The original Iron Storm is why I bought
the Saturn in the first place. Since SOA has already declined to
bring out Iron Storm II--if Working Designs doesn't translate it probably
means nobody else will. According to Victor Ireland the game was
supposed to be released this fall. Everyone who has seen the Japanese
version, or better yet played it, say it's leaps and bounds above the first
installment...that's almost impossible! However, now with this Sega/Working
Designs-rift crap we'll probably never see this magnificent game here in
the U.S. For shame SOA...You're beginning to act like Sony and cater
to the casual gamers out there who only buy the "hottest" games they see
advertised on TV, while you ignore the loyal Sega (Saturn) fans who have
stuck by you through thick and thin. Haven't you learned anything
from the 32X fiasco...Apparently not. It seems as time passes by
you forget what made you guys successful during the 16-bit era: Support
of your loyal customers by bringing out great games and supporting your
THIRD PARTIES who churn out great games; and in Working Designs' case release
great games from Japan that you SOA and (other publishers) passed on. Bernie
Stolar said it himself...Saturn will lose third party support this year
and especially next. What are you trying to do Bernie...Drive everyone
in the U.S. away from the Sega label, gamers and publishers included?
I think it's time SOJ pulled the reigns a little tighter on its
American subsidiary's operations, most notably in its management department.
-
BahnLung@aol.com COMMENT: To SEGA representatives (mostly that
BERNIE STOLAR guy; whatever his name is) You once made a mistake of ignoring
Working Designs when you were with Sony. Now that you've settled
down in Sega, you've made the same mistake. Perhaps it's time to
realize that you've made a fatal error, and think of the fans
instead of short term proliferation. I cannot fully blame you
or SEGA, but when something like this goes on to one of SEGA's most trusted
3rd party companies and there is no immediate mending, something is wrong.
If not apologize, comprimise. Fans like me need Sega, WD, and RPGs
to be the three things that fit together.
-Phil Shen
-
Ho Joon Lee I am astonished that Sega of America
did something as
horrible as that to Working Designs. Who cares if they show Raystorm.
It's not an RPG so nobody cares. I was very loyal to Sega ever since
the Genesis came out and it was mainly because of Working Designs.
I bought that damn Sega CD and the only games I have for it are all Working
Designs games. I have bought Shining Wisdom, Iron Storm, Dragon
Force, and I am eagerly waiting for Albert Oddysey. Working Designs
is doing a great job at nearly perfected this game for the American audience.
Damn it Sega, I think you owe them an apology.
-
-
Bruno Fiset Working Designs is probably
the best 3rd party company in the videogames industry. Awesome games, packaging
and instructions booklets are only few of the reasons why they're successful.
I've bought a Sega Saturn to play Working Designs games and I don't want
to shell another 200$ to buy a PlayStation. Sega, your customers want Working
Designs games! We've lost Eidos and Shiny...BUT WE'LL NOT LOSE WORKING
DESIGNS!
-
-
Kaneda Sega, this is the most disturbing
thing that you have ever done. It's stupidity is unmatched in the
entire gaming business. I bought your system to play RPGs, and only
for that reason! It's mistakes like these that convince a life-long
Sega fan not to get your next system. Kick Stolar to the curb, he's a typical
example of a know-nothing
American!
John Hampton
"V. Lasmarias" "I have been a staunch
supporter of Sega products for years (starting with the Master System and
even through the Sega CD and 32X debacles), I DO NOT want to see a repeat
of those mistakes. With the last 2 MAJOR ERRORS (32X and Sega CD), you
(Sega of America), have SUCCEEDED in alienating your strong Genesis customer
base and pushed them toward the competition. You have screwed the Saturn
up and have pushed practically all the 3rd parties away with your incompetence.
I, and my 3 brothers, have enjoyed Working Design products and we all agree
that this is NOT the proper way to treat a very loyal Sega supporter like
Working Designs, that have assisted in bringing staunch supporters into
the fold (and simultaneously lined your pockets). Please apologize now
and make peace with your 3rd parties and AT LEAST
assist them instead of pushing them away. Idiocy from your company
heads will kill your future market and not just your present one. RPG's
and shooters are a staple for many gamers and rapidly becoming a significant
(niche) market (as evidenced by the Suikoden sales and Wild Arms) which
you would be VERY foolish to ignore. A lack of apology will convince me,
and many others, to not buy your future console(s) and games given your
sorry support. After all, your games are coming for the PC so why
should we invest in your new console
that will probably fail.To finish, "We've been burned TWICE before
(and almost 3 times now), WE WON'T BE BURNED AGAIN!!"

"Matthew Brush" I don't know what they've
been smokin
at SOA but definatly need to straighten things out with Working Designs.
I've been buying WD games since the first Lunar was released for Sega CD.
Who cares if WD translates games for the PSX as long as they keep doing
the same for the Saturn. IF SOA were doing their job they would be
translating these great Japanese RPGs themselves, but since they can't
handle it, they shouldn't screw around with the one company who has always
dedicated
themselves to bringing these games to the US
-
Brad Chuang I don't believe how stupid

Elina dams Working Designs is one of
the main reasons I bought a Saturn. They were they only company that held
up the Sega CD and they are still they most
important video game company on Sega's pitiful line-up. Ever since
the ground breaking RPG from the Sega CD to the beautiful ones on the Saturn
I have held true to Working Designs. Sega had better apologize or their
system will collapse. Besides we are the ones who purchase the games and
we, the customers are the ones that keep the company alive. I think that
if we want Working Designs games on the Saturn than Sega should do everything
in their power to provide what the customer's want.
I hope we can make a difference.
"Ronald Wahl" Sega, you have been
dubbed the king of RPG's for next-generation systems in america.
In fact, that is the only market where you are unmatched thus far.
Plasytation's got the next Final Fantasy, but that won't be for a long
while. Meanwhile in that time Working Designs promised you 6-8 new games
(I think).
Now I ask you to look at history for a moment. How many Sega
CD's do you think you would have sold if it weren't for WD? I know
I wouldn't have bought mine. And that was only four games!!!!!
They virtually saved your system and they could do it again. With
WD and Square on the Playstation what have you got left that the Playstation
can't match? NOTHING! Now, I'm sure this is all a big misunderstanding
and a mistake, so just apologize. Promise them a little free advertising
like your whole "saturn exclusive" campaign.
Guarunteed to boost both your sales. I'm sure it wouldn't take
much just make them feel appreciated, they are your war horse after all.
Dan I cant believe that SOA could
be so foolish to turn their back on one of their strongest supporters.
I hope that they will be able to rectify this situation as they are in
no position to be arrogant. Let's get WD back Sega.
Stupendous Man It's extremely difficult
to get your hands on good RPG/strategy games over here in Europe, WD was
one of the few companies whose games incidently got shipped over..... Now
there's nothing left, so Sega should better get their act together. I was
alreadu disappointed by their lame marketing campaign over here (they just
do nothing and let Sony and Nintendo take over the European market). Sega
is losing it!

Tom Walz I am sending this email regarding
the petition involving the Working Designs/SEGA fiasco. Working Designs
has always been an excellent Sega
supporter, and Sega owes them dearly for contributing a lot of attention
to the Saturn and SEGA CD that they would have never gotten at all otherwise.
They produce quality software, which is a heck of a lot more than I can
say for Sega of America. I think the reps at Sega should kneal and
beg for forgiveness from Working Designs. If Sega doesn't do something
about this reputation, there is no way I will support future consoles,
and I've owned everything since the Master System. Maybe it is time
to take a look at what Sony and Nintendo have to offer...
"Brad J. Kavan" I bought a Saturn for the sole
purpose of getting Dragon Force, and in the hopes that the Shining Force
games would see there day on the the system as well. I guess now
that Working Designs refuses to make Saturn games, I have absolutely no
need to support this system any furthur.
Kevin Naylor I have always been a loyal supporter
of Sega but after the way you guys (Sega of America) have done everything
in you power to assure that the
Saturn would not succeed in the next-generation system war I don't
know if I can support Sega (of America) in the future. Making Working
Designs angry and causing them to leave the Saturn was the absolute worst
move you guys have ever made, it is ten times worse than the 32X disaster!
If SOA get Working Designs to publish the rest of the Lunar series of RPGs,
Grandia, and the Phantasy Star games I will NEVER support Sega of America
again. All my future Saturn games as well as Sega console systems
(Blackbelt/Dural) will be import as well. You have just lost yourselfs
another customer. Way to go SOA, and may the Saturn rest in peace.
FatGuy This is by far
the stupidest thing Sega has ever done! WD games have kept the Saturn
afloat, and delayed the crash of the Sega CD! Without WD, Sega would
be crap! I wouldn't own any of my Sega products. I have more
to
say, but it all involves cussing. Therefore, this letter will
be cut short here.
Low Chen Chong Sega of America, eat
the humble pie and say sorry with much sincerity toWorking Design. Do it
or the future of the Saturn would be destroyed and so will your income
and goodbye Bernie Stolar. Eat dirt if you don't.
Tiger Claw I don't wan't to buy the
PSX to play the games that WD made and I think that SOA MUST apologize
to WD.
Wdrpgwd@aol.com Why Sega?
"ATEO" Well, I bought a Saturn
mainly to play great RPGs and if SOA is going to lose a great RPG producer
like WD tell them to go to hell and take their other games with them!
G Skalba Iron Storm is the best game
ever. Dragon Force is awesome. I'd like more where they came from. Sega,
stop dissing companies.
Sega Force

Dear Sega Of America,
Do you know what make SEGA SATURN still survive
in the battle against the powerful PLAYSTATION and NINTENDO 64 in
the US ? , it is the games that available to SEGA SATURN only , this kind
of games is mainly A RPG game as you know that is the most popular
genre of games ! . And WORKING DESIGN has choosen SEGA SATURN in the beginning
instead the PLAYSTATION , so please do not let them go , as if they go
, so gone
are their fans , that mean SEGA will lose the war!!
Johnson I like Dragon Force, and all WD
games. They're great!
Sega of America must apologize for the sake of all Saturn owners.
K E Lawson / S K Mieir No more Working
Designs games means the end of the Saturn for us! Dragon Force was
the game we bought with the console, and it's still the best. We
left Nintendo because of a lack of RPGs, and we've just bought a Playstation.First
Enix and Square, and now this. We've gotta go where the RPGs go,
and all roads lead to Sony.
Remember... the more names and comments we get,
the more likely that Sega will take it to heart...TELL YOUR FRIENDS!!!
