PRIME NUMBERS

Want to see if any number between 1 and 10,000,000,000 is a prime number? Type your candidate number in the box below. Don't use any commas or spaces. Now press enter or press the tab key--whichever your computer allows. Be sure to clear the box completely using backspace before entering a new number. Remember, large prime numbers take a long time. It ain't over until the alert dialog box shows. Be patient!

POLYNOMIALS

If a polynomial has at least one real root, this program will find it. This program will not find every real root--just one. This program assumes that you want to find the real roots of a tenth degree polynomial. You will be asked the coefficients of each of the ten terms. Use zero for any term that you don't want included. The program uses Newton's Method to search for zeros. Unsucessful searches result in the "No Real Root" message. After you have entered the coeficients in the boxes below, push the Newton button to get an estimate of the value of one of the real roots.
