No Experience Required -- The website for the class textbook, Visual Basic 5: No experience required. Includes code for the larger example programs in the book, VB-related links (I've listed the really good ones here), and even resources for getting a job in VB programming.

Good Visual Basic links:

• Jose's VB Beginner's Corner -- A nicely-written, huge repository of information and tutorials. Part of Joe Garrick's World of Visual Basic.
• Microsoft Visual Basic -- The extremely informative official page from Microsoft. Includes a tip of the week, news, seminar listings, etc. You can also download Internet controls, the VB Profiler (a code analyzing tool that can optimize your project), Visual Basic Control Creation Edition (letting you write programs for the handheld Windows CE), and other interesting miscellany.
• Visual Basic Explorer (with frames) -- A very useful site, with informative tutorials and downloads "for the VB Newbie". You can also jump to the non-frames version.
• Visual Basic Online Magazine -- A solid online VB magazine with plenty of tips and tricks.
• Inside Visual Basic -- Basically an advertisement for The Cobb Group's magazine, with one or two articles actually online.
• Chris & Tim's Web Site -- An appealing collection of files, tips, and tutorials.
• Creating a Video Game -- A tutorial that takes you through creating a fairly simple 2D shoot-em-up in Visual Basic 4.0, step by step and covering a lot of ground. Intended for audiences a little beyond the rank amateur's level, but beginners can work through the material anyway.
• Visual Basic Search Engine -- Search for subject-specific VB websites and tutorials.
• comp.lang.basic.visual.misc -- The original Visual Basic newsgroup. If you don't like using a Usenet newsgroup reader, you can connect to DejaNews, a website that offers Usenet access.
• What is the Year 2000 Problem and How Does It Affect VB? -- Yes, it is a problem (well, mainly with older versions of VB).
• Programmers' Heaven -- Over 750 free files and more than 1200 programming-related links. You can also go directly to their VB/Q-Basic files or links pages.
