NS-MMU Project Competition

The NS-MMU Annual Innovative Project Competition is jointly organized by Multimedia University (MMU) and National Semiconductor Sdn. Bhd.(NS). It is open to all students from the Engineering, IT, as well as the Creative Multimedia Faculties of the university. Students are encouraged to form project groups consisting of members from different disciplines and years. Each group can consist of up to a maximum of 5 members. The project titles are proposed by the students themselves, out of their creative and innovative minds. In other words, the students get to work on the ideas that they are interested to realize rather than a topic that is imposed on them. Nevertheless, the projects shall demonstrate original use of electronics, IT and multimedia in industrial or consumer applications. (Quoted from Project Webpage)

I wanted to join the competition while I was in my first year but at that time, I did not know much or enough to be able to carry out the project successfully. I believe that by joining this competition, I will gain much useful experience in carrying out practical work. It also serves to put into practice what I have learned theoretically.

Here are my fellow project group members:

We have submitted our proposals to the coordinator, Mr. Chung Boon Kuan and hopefully it will be approved sometime in January 2000. Our proposals are as follows: Latest happenings: Our proposal for Smart Aquarium has been accepted (although this means that our main proposal, the Braille Translator has been rejected).
**The proposals are available from my Intranet (information include budget, components, etc.).

Current interests and preparations for the competition:

Current progress: Everybody's very busy these days as the workload seems to be piling up but nevertheless, the progress has been encouraging. Our first sensor, the flooding alarm, has already been created. The hardware's working just fine after several testings. Below are listed the progress of our group:
