"I
must not fear |
Fear
is the mindkiller |
Fear
is the little-death that brings total
obliteration |
I
will face my fear |
I
will permit it to pass over and through me |
And
when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye
to see its path |
Where
the fear has gone there will be nothing |
Only
I will remain." |

I am a twentysomething programmer
for a small company in south africa called U.C.S. i am an unreconstructed
techie and unrepentant hacker. my
programming fluid of choice is coke (aaah, coke) but at a pinch
i'd drink tea (with lots of sugar). i consider myself an atheist
(strong) and a materialist. politically i would consider myself a
left-libertarian. i like to listen to LOUD,
heavy
music (i do listen to mellow stuff also but not so often -
perhaps it explains why i'm not so mellow). i have every ozzy-era
black sabbath record, every ozzy solo record, every led zeppelin
record including bootlegs, every metallica cd, every nirvana
record, everything recorded by l7, everything by soundgarden,
stuff by live, skunk anansie's two albums, marilyn manson's last
two records, older ac/dc stuff, nin stuff, a few neil young cds,
blue oyster cult cds, pearl jam, old leonard cohen records, the
new page and plant records, the entire john lennon, bob dylan,
doors, bob marley, peter tosh, jimi hendrix, thin lizzy and
jethro tull collections, lots of patti smith stuff, lithium and
sugardrive (local) cds. i DON'T go to raves but to places that
play real music. i also play electric guitar (an Ibanez Artist)
(not in a band yet though), and i drive a 1974 white beetle. I
like to watch millennium and the x-files (and first wave) but i
am a complete skeptic in matters paranormal and
extra-terrestrial. i like ALL the star trek series (the original,
next generation, ds9 and voyager) and am a big fan of the borg. as far as movies go i like sci-fi (Blade
Runner) and horror (Hellraiser). i like reading
books that fit somewhere in the
sci-fi/cyberpunk/dystopian/fantasy genres (philip k dick,
william gibson, george orwell, frank herbert);
philosophical, political and (anti-)relgious works (noam
chomsky, neitzche, wilhelm reich), funny science
fiction+fantasy (terry pratchett, douglas adams) and of
course horror (both classic [hp lovecraft, edgar allen poe])
and modern [clive barker, peter straub, anne rice]) - my
current favorite books are [the three stigmata of palmer
eldritch - philip k dick], [mona lisa overdrive -
william gibson], [world orders, old and new - noam
chomsky], [farenheit 451 - ray bradbury], [the
hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy - douglas adams] and [the
queen of the damned - anne rice]. i also like poetry both
written (poe, ee cummings), and sung (jim morrison,
bob dylan, leonard cohen). i have also writen a few poems
and if you're unlucky you'll get to read some of them. i have no
tattoos and no part of my body is pierced (not even my ears).
this picture of jesus dancing is blatantly
stolen from <why
christians suck> (where i am playing satan in God On Trial
- if that EVER gets off the ground!)
