n' Tips
Here are some great hints n' tips for three of the most
popular programming languages around. Most of them will be focused on Delphi
(Pascal) because this is the language I use most frequently but I will
try to include what every information I stummble across that has to do
with VB or C/C++.
Delphi
Visual
Basic
C/C++
Delphi
- A tip, relating to my current Delphi Example,
for making masks a little easier is 'Draw' the sprite to the canvas using
the 'cmNotSrcErase' copy mode, from there change all the gray to white.
Any black on the sprite will apprear gray you will have to colour this
in black manually on the mask. This only works with 16-bit picture or lower.
- Anybody looking for a good beginners to programming in Delphi I
recommend 'Delphi by Example' by Que. It starts with the very basics and
continues on to complex topics in a very easy-to-understand exercises.
Even for accomplished programmers it teaches great technique.
Visual Basic
- To use Visual Basic to make screen savers just turn of all border
icons, write code to close it on 'mousemove' and on 'keypress'. When the
form is created test the command line for /c and /s (/c is for the configuration,
/s is to start the screen saver). Then when you make your program an execute
file change the extention from (*.exe) to (*.scr) and put it in the windows
directory, from here you can just run it as a normal screen saver. (This
method can also work for Delphi but I am yet to see it work, but if you
are interested follow this link.)
C/C++
- Have a look at these great C tutorials (chapter
1 to 4).
