April 2001 to present: Graduate Student in Energy Planning and Policy Program under the Faculty of Engineering in University of Technology, Sydney

1999: Conclusion of Masters in Engineering from Energy Program (Energy Economics and Planning) at AIT. Thesis entitled as "The Role of Small Run-of-River and Pumped Storage Power Plants in Power Sector Development of Nepal: An Integrated Resource Planning Analysis", December 1999. 3 - Professional Background :

Jan. 1993 – March 1995: Power Distribution Incharge in Andhikhola Hydel and Rural Electrification Project (5 MW), Butwal Power Company operated by United Mission to Nepal.

Major Job Responsibilities:

Plan and carry out the scheduled operation and maintenance of low voltage and high voltage switchgear in switching station and powerhouse.

Monitor and evaluate the technical performance of generators, power transformers and circuit breakers (OCB and VCB).

Plan and supervise the construction and maintenance work of high tension (33 KV) and low-tension lines (1 KV and 400 V) as a part of rural electrification.

Plan and implement the suitable current limiting devices such as PTC, MCB and ECC as a load control device for rural electrification.

Plan and carry out the scheduled maintenance of powerhouse equipment such as generators, motors, switchgears and low voltage circuit breakers and control equipment and power transformer as well as distribution transformers.

Design and commission the control, metering and protection system for the newly built high voltage feeders outgoing from the power house.

Estimate the costing and evaluation of electrical works and items so as to purchase and install the work through quotation or tender.

Ascertain the quality of the spare parts purchased for the operation of the system from different manufacturers.

Special Assignment:

I used to be in on-call duty for the emergency for the regular operation of Powerhouse out of office hours.

April 1995- Dec. 1997: Operation and Maintenance Engineer in Transmission Grid and Sub-station Control Department in Nepal Electricity Authority in Nepal.

Major Job Responsibilities:

Maintenance supervision and monitoring of high and low voltage circuit breakers and transformers related switchgears, electrical motors, and pumps and control system.

Monitoring, evaluation, testing and commissioning of protective relays, switchgear equipment such as current transformers, potential transformers and circuit breakers so as to ensure the quality and functionality.

Operation and maintenance of high voltage transmission lines.

Planning of electrical spare parts and equipment required for the operation and maintenance of the entire electrical system of the powerhouse.

Supervise and monitor the activities of personnel involved in the operation of Pokhara (15 MVA) and Damauli (5 MVA) substation as I was the sub-station incharge of those two substations.

Communicating and corresponding with ABB, GEC ALSTHOM, Siemens, JYOTI and other manufacturers for the ordering of spare parts such as lightning arrestors, current transformers, potential transformers and current relays as well as voltage relays.

Technical Visit: Factory visit to Elpro International, India at Pune for the testing, commissioning and quality monitoring of 120 kV lightning arrestor purchased from company.

17^th Dec. to 26^th March, 2001: Research Associate in Environmental Emission Mitigation Project (Power Sector) under the framework of Asian Regional Research Program in Energy, Environment and Climate (ARRPEEC-II) in Energy Program, Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand funded by Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).
