Booking the Exam

When you want to sit your exam, you will need to contact your local Authorized Testing Center (ATC) to make a booking. Some ATC's require at least one weeks notice, whilst others will accept walk-in candidates. It's a good idea to call your local one beforehand to find out.

To find your ATC, use the ATC Locator on the MOUS web site Note that some areas may have private testing facilities - for staff only. For instance, a school may be an ATC to certify its teachers and students. These private ATC's do not generally accept members of the public.

When booking your exam, consider the following:

If possible, it is usually a good idea to book the exam for late morning. This is because most people are normally more alert in the morning than in the afternoon. Also, getting it 'over and done with' in the morning may allow you to have the afternoon to celebrate if you pass!
Don't book your exam for lunchtime or just before the ATC closes. The Administrator may be distracted, and they should be paying attention to you and the exam all the time.

Exams cost about $50 US each to take. (This is equal to about $85-$90 New Zealand Dollars, but they retail for $120+GST.) You have to pay this every time you sit the exam - so if you fail, you must pay the full price again.

If you are a student, you may be eligible for academic pricing of exams - contact your ATC for information.
