My name is Joseph Davoli.  I am a Certified Lotus Professional (CLP) Principal Application Developer R4.  As the title of my web site suggests, this site is designed to help Lotus Notes designers get more functionality out of Lotus Notes.  Few programmers enjoy designing Lotus Notes databases.  The formula language with all of its "@" commands does not contain a debugger.  Given that some of the commands can execute out of sequence, it is often easier to start designing from scratch than to try to decipher existing formulae.  The user interface is maddeningly limited to buttons, static text, textboxes, and "Hotspots."  Those of us accustomed to Visual Basic's generous design environment find ourselves constantly scaling back our creativity to accommodate Notes.  Finally, Notes often generates unexpected errors for no apparent reason. Standard methods for overcoming those errors (although never discovering the cause) include closing the database, compacting the database, shutting down and restarting Notes, and shutting down the computer.

The material in this web site will put more resources at the disposal of the Lotus Notes application developer.  It will, ideally, open up new avenues of developing Notes applications, making them more flexible and helpful to the user.  I have put all of the techniques featured in this web site into a Lotus Notes database, which you can download by clicking on the Notes icon below:
