Quick Browser

Latest Version - 1.1, Released August 14, 1998

What is Quick Browser?
Quick Browser is a tiny (24k) application that sits in your Windows 95, 98, or NT 4 Taskbar tray. It is intended to make launching your browser easier, especially when the Desktop is covered with open windows or going throught the Start Menu is not convenient. Quick Browser will load your default Web Browser with a double click of its icon. The icon takes the appearance of the application icon of your web browser's executable file. In other words, if you use Internet Explorer, an IE logo will be displayed, same for Netscape Navigator or any other browser. The only requirement is that your default web browser must be the same as the application registered as the default association for "html" documents in Windows Explorer.

Installation/Uninstallation
Installation is very simple. Just extract qbrowser.exe and the qbrowser.htm (this document) files from the Quick Browser Zip file to the desired directory and run qbrowser.exe. It is suggested that a shortcut to Quick Browser be placed in the Startup menu. Uninstallation is as simple as deleting the executable and html file and any shortcuts to Quick Browser on your Desktop or Start Menu. This application does require the MFC runtime DLL's but are not distributed with the application. Most likely the required files are already resident on your system. If not they are available from Microsoft or WinFiles.com. Quick Browser uses no registry entries or ini files.

How to Use Quick Explorer
Double click the browser icon in the Taskbar tray. Your browser will startup just as if you had selected it from the Start Menu or a Desktop shortcut.

Right clicking on the icon will give you a popup menu of several items.

If Quick Browser is unable to locate a default web browser on your system the taskbar tray icon and ToolTip will indicate this and the Run Browser option will be disabled

(New) Shortcut Command Line Switches
The following switches may be used in any combination on the command line of a shortcut to Quick Browser.
