LabelPrinter

LabelPrinter.zip (sorry, Geocities doesn't take jars).

LabelPrinter screen shot

This program prints labels on Avery 1" x 2 5/8" Ink Jet Labels (06233). Avery labels are peel-off, printer friendly labels. I use them mostly for address labels. This program can print as few as one label and as many as the whole sheet at once. I use the whole-sheet option to make return address labels, and the one-at-a-time to make labels for where my mail is going.

This program uses some of the wec.awt classes. They are included in this jar so that you won't have to download them individually. The versions of the wec.awt classes in this jar aren't the latest ones, though.

I have absolutely no idea how well it will work in environments different than mine. I suspect that other printers and operating systems won't line the labels up properly--I've probably written some very platform specific Java. Here is my environment:

Installation

Be sure you have "." in your classpath. If you don't, JDK will not be able to find the "wec" classes when you compile or run the program.

  1. Extract the files from the zip. Use an unzipper like WinZip which preserves long filenames.

  2. Compile the program:

        javac LabelPrinter.java

  3. Run it:

        java LabelPrinter
