G'Day

from Melbourne, Australia. I am a project leader at Telstra Research Labs, the research arm of Australia's largest telecommunications company. My work involves developing services in the areas of terminal or personal mobility, and reporting on significant areas of this field. For instance, I development Wireless Applications Protocol (WAP) services, mobile network monitoring scripts, intelligent-agent based products, internet-enabled telephony services, wireless home networking services, and investigate the potential of 3rd Generation Mobile services. And in my copious free time, I have a life.:)

Life

as we know it is not necessarily a good, objective definition of what life is. However, if you try to come up with one yourself, you're likely to find that it includes many things that you didn't want it to, or at least most other people wouldn't want it to. C'est la vie.

However, my life has included a few things that I'm willing to tell you about right now. Hopefully, it will give you a better picture of me (maybe this is why you are even looking at my homepage?).

Firstly, you may like to look at my curriculum vitae, (zipped postscript) if you want a detailed breakdown of my 'significant' achievements. Everyone else, read on!

I graduated from The University of Western Australia (UWA) in 1995 with a first class honours degree in Computing and Mathematical Sciences. This got me a job where I am at the moment, but it meant that I had to move from beautiful Perth to beautiful Melbourne. Actually, I'm still studying. I'm now doing a part-time Bachelor of Letters at Monash University, studying history and philosophy.

I have been involved in choral societies since my days at UWA, when I was president of the Perth Undergraduate Choral Society (PUCS). Now I am involved in the corresponding groups in Melbourne: MUCS and MonUCS. All of these societies produce very good concerts, even though they have policies of no auditions. Don't ask me how this works, I put it down to good motivation. To hear some of the music that these groups have performed, see the MonUCS MP3 site.

Software

In my dark past, I wrote two 'shareware' utilities that allowed you to convert between MIDI and ProTracker (MOD) formats. They were released with accompanying source code, since I'm lazy enough to not want to maintain my own code forever.:)

Goodbye

from me. That sounds so insincere, doesn't it? Well, I hardly know you. But if you like, email me at GeoCities or phone me at work on (03) 9253-6397, if you're within Australia.

Please do not send any unsolicited commercial email to my email address. If you do send something that looks like spam, then I'll probably have it filtered out anyway, so don't bother.

Contacts list - please ignore

Alice laughed. `There's no use trying,' she said. `One ca'n't believe impossible things.'

`I daresay you haven't had much practice,' said the Queen. `When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.'

If you've done six impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliways - Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
