BEADING

Beading has been done for hundreds of years and it is world wide. The beads can be made from shells, rocks, glass, clay, bone, ivory, or any other hard substance that can have a hole drilled into it. The Native Ammericans started using glass beads after the arrival of European settlers and traders. It is a form of art that continues to change, never losing it's popularity. Prices for beaded objects can range from a few dollars up to thousands. Anyone can do it with a bit of patience and a desire to create unique and unusual items.

The necklace is worked in a size 11 glass seed bead. The choker part was done on a loom and the rest added later.

These earrings are also done in a size 11 glass seed bead. The method is called a brick stitch and is the most basic stitch. This stitch must be mastered before moving on to others.
