québec

[prelude]
arrived at daisy & simon's house at 6.30. i'm surprisingly awake - i only had an hour's worth of sleep due to irregular sleeping hours. i'm not very hungry either, although i haven't eaten in more than 24 hours. the reason for all this is the damned nausea that won't go away.

[part 1]
am on the road now - that's why these words are nothing but indecipherable chicken scratch. shit it's a bumpy road. i can't sleep though everyone else is. i can hear simon snoring. i'm nauseous again, and this time there is something in my stomach to throw up. there are some really gorgeous trees our here. i forgot to go to the bank this morning; all i've got is $2+change. hoping there's an atm at our lunch stop.

[part 2]
had the most unappetizing and revolting sight. we just passed a truck in which the back was loaded with bones. not the dry brittle white kind; i would have been able to stomach those. i'm talking about abbatoire-style bones: large, bloody bones with little flaps of red flesh still hanging off them. they must have been cow femurs; they were that big. what the hell does one do with cow femurs? thank god the windows can't open and all the air is circulating internally. i think i'll request a vomit stop. my security blanket is being used as a pillow by someone and i can't see it and i feel oddly lonely. it's too sunny and even sunglasses won't stop the blinding glare. i'm being pessimistic again and am beginning to think that this maybe wasn't such a good idea anyway (is it ever?).

[part 3]
we're doing the touristy thing; a one hour ferry tour of the thousand islands (if you're ever in the area do the Gananoque Ferry Tour). there are old and middle-aged chinese people everywhere; i can see myself like them already. i've been sitting for so long that i've cramped. when i got out of the car my left hip was so sore i limped. we sang spice girls songs (catchy, easy to learn, everyone knows them!) to alleviate the boredom. long live these silly trips, if only for the campy music. next stop: ottawa, our nation's lovely capital.

[part 4]
(so i skipped ottawa; it was boring. let's move on to montréal) montréal; awesome nitelife but too bad we've gotta be in driving condition. we should be in québec city tomorrow morning. we bought instant ramen cup noodles (chicken flavour - not that it's important) for convenient, not to mention cheap, eats. "yeah, major scarfage man!"-words to live by. i'm craving fresh peaches. everyone is starting to grate on my nerves. maybe it's the spice girls. if you're ever in montréal be sure to visit La Gauchetière in chinatown cos it's real neat. [coffee donuts ramen gum bottledwater choclate prepackagedtreats shrinkwrappedmeat] time to break out the acid jazz. no more spice! some of the coffee has been really bad so far; i had to add cream and sugar to mask the awful taste. ew. god preserve us from bad coffee.

[part 5]
legal drinking age is 16, or is it 18? at any rate i'm legal and that's what matters. i need something other than water or coffee to drink soon cos it's getting to me. i keep seeing boys who look just like bren. he thinks i've gotta stop reading/writing/sketching in the car - bad for the eyes and nausea. he's been forever warning me about it. all the gay boys round here are going in twos and threes anyway. they're all wearing club-type (read: reflective lenses, brightly coloured frames) wrap sunglasses as headbands, and trainers, too.

[part 6]
the weather's warm enough for an abundance of delectably shirtless boys (but also a crop of fat, old, hairy men). feet hurt. yep, sandals were a bad idea. have a neat-o sandal tan, though. i smell of myrrh and raspberry lipgloss and it isn't altogether appealing. i need a shower cos last night's is wearing off. thank god for hair elastics cos the pigtails hide the fact that i've got a (gulp) bad hair day. anyway, after an entire day of non-stop shopping and sighseeing in the vieux québec area (it's the fête de nouvelle-france, or new france festival)(have the most beautiful moon hair elastic)(ever in québec city you MUST see old québec) it's club club club, boys! so watch out for the chickies cos they're vixens tonight.

[part 7]
back in toronto but we're already out gallavanting. watched sunrise at scarborough bluffs tonight/today, and played silly camp games on the beach (t.v. tag, ali baba & the 40 thieves, the bear song!) while waiting and we scared a whole bunch of geese away. sand is wonderful when cold. had brekkie at milley's (24-hr restaurant/doughnut shop; 3 eggs + peameal bacon + home fries + 2 slices toast + coffee/tea = $4.50) and went to carol's house. it was about 8.30 by then. i slept until 12 before attempting to drive back home - i don't want to risk falling asleep at the wheel, which has happened a few times (good thing no one was there). i don't know where all the money went. worse, i don't know where all the time went. damn.
