They Review, I Forget
Because I forget so easily, and because they often review a recording a month before it is released, I make note of it. One of my favorite reviewers is Jim Walsh, of the Pioneer Press.

Wilco
Featuring Billy Bragg, with guest vocalist Natalie Merchant. Rated one of the best of 1998 by critic Jon Dolan. The cd is titled "Mermaid Avenue".
Madredeus
World music recommended by my favorite music critic Jim Walsh. "O Paraiso" is the name of the CD.
Leila Josefowicz
Ms. Josefowicz is a solo violinist, perhaps known for her "Violin for Anne Rice", but get her earlier CD with unaccompanied solo violin music. Not your usual selction of music on that CD.
Todd Rundgren
His album "With a Twist". Bossa Nova versions of his hits.
Brother Jack McDuff
"That's the Way I Feel About It" (JAZZ), reviewed by Bob Protzman in the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Sunday, June 8, 1997. I would quote the whole review. You might as well visit them at Pioneerplanet.com, and read it yourself. Mr. Protzman gives the album 3 and one half stars. Songs included on the album; "Age of Aquarius", "Theme from Mission Impossible", and some new (good) ones written by Mr. McDuff.
