AS THE SUNSET OVER THE MOUNTAIN

by

Rose McMahan

Once in a fading sunset
I thought I saw God's face
Though only imagination
My heart began to race
I thought how sad and little
The deeds for Jesus I'd done
Many times I could have but didn't
Give thanks to God's
Only son
I remembered how freely He'd given
His love from beginning to end
What a great and marvelous Savior
What a true and priceless friend
In light of my countless failures
To praise and honor His name
As the sun set over the mountain
I bowed my head in shame!
