...But Were Afraid to Ask.

I came into the world on the 11th day of the 2nd month in the same year the Beatles broke up, and Hendrix died, 1970. My entrance came at the home of Air Force One, Andrew AFB. (Yup, that would make me a military brat.) Through my younger years, I traveled across the country, actually residing in Washington DC, Denver, Las Vegas, and less exciting places like Dover, NJ, Rantoul, IL, and Alexandria, LA. (I now live in Florida) I attended Alexandria Senior High, doing most of my writing during my time there. I graduated as part of the class of ’88, with dreams of moving to SoHo, writing the great American novel, marrying a musician, and saving the world.

I then proceeded to attend college for 4 semesters at Northwestern State University of Louisiana in Natchitoches, LA. (Famous for being the first settlement in the Louisiana Purchase, the location of the movie Steel Magnolias, and affectionately known to anyone who’s been there as “the ‘dish”.) I majored in Broadcast Journalism, which introduced me to college radio. I was a DJ at KNDW, the creative cottage of Rock & Roll, which was probably one of the most underpowered radio stations ever. (When one of your catch phases is “running on less power than a hair dryer”, there is a problem.) I never was able to listen to radio the same again, but I did get to indulge in my first love, music. The great thing about college radio is that you are exposed to MANY different styles of music. Because of this, my tastes have been described as “eclectic”.

1991 was a good year for me, with two major events that forever changed my life as I knew it. The year started with the birth of my first daughter, Danielle, and ended with the meeting and engagement to the man I have been with ever since, Stacey. In 1993, I had my second daughter, Amanda. I’ve been a proud mom ever since, as they have grown to be strong, smart, independent young ladies.

In the late ‘90s, I joined the local cast of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I the two years I was apart of it, I played Janet, Rocky, Brad, and Riff Raff. I even created and, for a while, maintained the cast’s website.

Job wise, I did the retail thing for 13 years. It wasn’t great, but it paid the bills. I did not fulfill my desire to make a difference in the world. That all change in 2002, when I started working for the American Red Cross. I took a position in Health & Safety Services, where I administer the day-to-day operations of the department, and became an instructor in First Aid/CPR/AED, Babysitter’s Training, and HIV/AIDS Education. I also volunteer in Disaster Services.

My hobbies are collecting, (and sometimes playing), video games, and astrology. I am also one of the biggest movie fanatics ever, another love born our of my college days. My taste in movies is as varied as my taste in music. When I have some free time, I still write. Oh, I also created and maintain a web site. (HEHE!)

Today, I spend my time working hard to save my little corner of the world, being a mom, and a loving partner. I am in to process of purchasing my first home. (I feel so grown up!) In the coming year, I hope to attend and finish college, changing my major to Cinematography. I am far from where I thought I would be at this point, yet I couldn’t be happier. I wouldn’t change a thing.
