Chameleon Resting on Invisibility

I journey to earth and stone
out of curiosity.

Like with madmen
who aspire to the brink
and look down.
Way down.

I fall asleep
and dream this scene...

I'm all alone. It rained.
It's wet outside
and I'm hungary.

The living room is hot as a desert
and though I'm in my house
I want to go home.

I hear a woman's voice coming
from an empty room.
She says, "Come."
But I don't hear.

It rains some more. I'm bored.
I bang my head against the wall.
(I built it by the way)

In the middle of the living room
there's a bottomless hole
that I try to fill up with something.

Then in the mirror
I see two lovers quarreling.
"You can't own me."
she says to her partner.

Then she turns to me, the Watcher
and breathes light
as the whole room brightens.

There's a bowl filled with water
set before a fireplace.

The water begins to boil to air
until nothing is there.

She blows out a candle and whispers,
"The world is a fleeting moment.

Still in the Silence I am the chameleon
resting on invisibility.
Grab me by the tail and it falls off.

No one is away and Everyone is here,
forever I am yours if you leave me be,

Us be..."                                                                         © 1998 by David Bozzi
