Children of the Sun

play in the rain.

Thought it could be fun
to be insane.

You stomp through mud;
forgotten who I am.

But through the longest storms
I remember for you.

I am the lightning that stalks you like a lover.
Strike when you least expect.
I hold the power to make you feel alive
   …or strike you dead.

I’m the wind and the rain,
and my face reflects from the darkest cloud.

I’m the drop that drips
from your face and falls
into the puddle
you slosh through.

I evaporate into sky
riding the power of  light
like a soul.

Some day you will drink me.

I taste like nothing you've imagined.

I am nothing,
I am no one.

Happy birthday.

We are everyone

in a cloudless, diamond sky.                                                © 1999 by David Bozzi
