Hi, my name is Debra Grace Khattab/Sciaf, once upon a time Staples. Or Debbie to friends. SCIAF stands for Supreme Commander of the Intergalactic Allied Forces, head of all Space Cadets, Horsehead Nebula bound (a VERY long nickname given to me in high school during a science discussion when I got so animated about Physics theories my friend labeled me beyond Space Cadet status).

I have a partner/mate/companion (remember the original Star Trek episode with the companion?), Ken Siegel, two sons, Jeremy (7) and Vanyel (3) {yes he's named after a Mercedes Lackey novel character to those who might wonder) and for a year until 11/98, we were legal guardians of a teenager, our heart daughter/heart sister Heidi (17) {she returned to her biological family when her mother developed brain cancer}.

I have been writing poetry for more than 20 years, into SF&F (Science Fiction & Fantasy) even longer. I am now trying to write SF&F, horror, folksongs, children's stuff & local articles as well as poetry as I'd like to make some money at it before I die (dead poets seem to sell much better than the live ones I've noticed). I hope to return to get my Physics degree soon as an English degree only goes so far.

I play piano as an amateur would (out of practice Ken says - sweet of him), like Rocky Horror & Red Dwarf, vampires and calico dresses (originally born & bred in Iowa, just like the cows and pigs).

Wish I didn't have Candida (or Irritable Bowel Syndrome as doctors in denial would say; means I can eat no sugar nor fruit) or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyaglia, but we deal with the deck given to us. This has made we very aware of how precious life energy is. I am bisexual, multi-partnerable, and other important things that have made me a feminist/humanist.

I believe Science Fiction saved my soul while growing up. I am now a Zen Buddhist/Pagan (previously a practicing Muslim while married to a Palestinian) who also teaches christian & jewish stories to our children so they will never forget where they came from.
