Cheap trick

I think Chris Rock said it best on the recent "Saturday Night Live 25th Anniversary Special": "Look around this room. Look at the star power; look at the comedic genius. I'm looking at some of the most overrated people in the history of comedy. Some of the worst movies ever made were made by people in this room."

Amen.

In Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo, the first project from Adam Sandler's production company, buddy Rob Schneider stars (from a script he co-wrote) as a fish-tank cleaner who plays "man-whore" to raise some quick cash, hiring his inconsequential services out to women who variously suffer from narcolepsy, Tourette Syndrome, giantism, obesity, a missing limb, and careless dog-training. Calling the result juvenile and sophomoric is an insult to children and second-year students. Really, Deuce is so loaded with unimaginative innuendo and body-function modalities I couldn't wait to get home and take a Lysol shower. Only a certain surreal quality owing to the presence of once-promising actor William Forsythe as an obsessive cop, and a cameo by Marlo Thomas ("I want -- 'That Girl!'"), who must be working off some of hubby Phil Donahue's (remember him?) gambling debts, save it from complete failure.. And there was a funny but all too brief Matrix parody.

Somebody spray some air freshener. D--
