This is a story about four hip teenagers and their trusty Giant Desert Centipede Alvin who go around in a van and solve pseudo-supernatural mysteries.

One evening they went to investigate the headquarters of a shadowy teenage death cult in rural South Dakota. The Mystery Machine mysteriously got four flat tires at the same time and a very tall blond cop gave them a lift into a sleepy little town to call for a tow truck.
The cop let them sleep in the vacant county jail, but in the dead of night the gang was awakened by the sound of drums in the distance.

The four kids set out into the woods and came upon an elaborate cathedral. "Zoinks!" cried Shaggy. He and Alvin were getting hungry and they wanted to find the kitchen, but Fred insisted that they break into the downstairs window. As usual everyone went along with Fred.
