This statue of Mr. Beardsley guards the entrance to the park which bears his name. He and Mr. Barnum (of Barnum and Bailey fame) were fast friends and he allowed his friend's circus animals to winter on his land. He willed the land in perpetuity to the city of Bridgeport after his death. The city, low on funds, found a loophole in the will during the 1990's and gave title of the park to the state of Connecticut. This image was taken during early morning hours.
