Once in space there were nine planets-Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Astronauts were having a race to get to the Moon. One of the astronauts was riding his space ship ninety-nine miles per second. The other space man was riding his space ship ninety-four miles per second. How much faster did the first space man go than the second ?
99 - 94 = ?

One night I dreamed I was in space! I saw something in the distance. It looked like a hurt kitten. "Mom never let me have a kitten", I thought to myself . I have to help it. I went over to the kitten. "Oh my gosh", I stammered! "You have ten cuts", I said. Then I saw another hurt kitten in the distance. It had ten cuts too! Then I saw another kitten in the distance. It had 15 cuts! I patched them all up. How many cuts in all? 10 + 10 + 15 = ?

One day in outer space there were 9 planets and 1 sun. The sun was the Dad and the planets were the kids. Saturn and Earth were playing tag. Earth accidentally bumped Saturn's moon. The Sun counted the planets, Saturn had 17 moons but one was missing. Pluto now had 2 but yesterday Pluto had 1. The Sun took 1 moon and gave it to Saturn. The Sun said, I'm glad that's done!" They lived happily the next million years. How many moons does Saturn and Pluto have together ?
17 + 2 = ?

There used to be no information about space. So one day an 11 year old kid snuck aboard a ship and went into space and learned. In 1991 he learned 60 things about space. In 1995 he learned 60 more things about space. Today, even though he wasn't honest, we will never forget him. How many things did that boy learn in all ? 60 + 60 = ?

There were 10 alien mothers, each of them had 13 baby aliens. How many baby aliens were there in all ?
10 x 13 = ?

One day on Mars there were 20 aliens playing Mars Attack. 15 more aliens came to join the game. How many aliens played Mars Attack ? 20 + 15 = ?

One day there were 68 shooting stars rocking and rolling but 40 of them blew up. How many were left rocking and rolling? 68 - 40 = ?

15 aliens were on the moon. 13 astronauts were in the moon-rover looking for creatures. They found each other. How many in all ? 15 + 13 = ?

One day, out in our solar system 16 comets hit Mars. The next day I went up in outer space and I saw 12 shooting stars. How many more comets hit Mars than shooting stars ? 16 - 12 = ?

One day 48 meteors were heading towards Earth. 12 burned up. How many are left? 48 - 12 = ?

In a far away galaxy that scientists haven't even discovered yet, 14 alien children are playing, but their mothers call them in for lunch. They all promised that after lunch they would start playing again. One alien friend asked, "Can I bring a few friends with me after lunch?" The other aliens said, "Sure! We could use some more players." So after lunch everyone went back to the playground. The alien who asked if he could bring some friends brought 17 friends. They had lots of fun playing. How many aliens were playing in all? 14 + 17 = ?

22 space men are fixing a satellite dish. 66 space women were working on the whole spaceship but for some reason they were floating away! How many men and women are working all together?

62 + 22 = ?

There were ten Martians looking at twenty-five stars. How many Martians and stars were in outer space?
10 + 25 = ?

Pluto has 12 moons. Mercury also has 12 moons. Venus has 12 moons, too. How many moons in all? 12 + 12 + 12 = ?

There were 27 asteroids. Two hit Mars, 7 hit Jupiter, and 5 hit Saturn. How many asteroids were left? 27 - 2 - 7 - 5 = ?

If we went to another galaxy and found new planets we could count moons. The first planet has 22 moons, the second has 34. How many moons are there all together ? 22 + 34 = ?

There were 4 aliens. Two aliens pushed two other aliens off the planet. How many aliens are left? 4 - 2 = ?

When I was in space I saw 24 stars to the left of me and 32 stars to the right of me. How many stars did I see? 24 + 32 = ?

Jupiter has 16 moons. Twelve got destroyed by a meteor the size of the state of Texas. How many moons are left? 16 - 12 = ?

Eighty-three aliens were on Jupiter, and they had 73 space rockets. How many space rockets and aliens in all? 83 + 73 = ?

Once upon a time, when there were no people around except kids. There was a town in Florida called Coral Springs. There were many houses on that street and only one of them had a cat. In this particular house lived two girls, one was 9 and the other 6. In fact, these two girls are my cousins. Well anyway, their cat's name is Nola. In the house next door it was a very big day, their cat had just had a litter of 16 kittens - 10 females and 6 males. When the litter was 7 weeks old they wanted to go out and explore the planet Mars. They had heard so much about it. So they wandered off wondering where the space launch was. "I can't wait to go to Mars!" squeaked the smallest kitten. The kittens had heard their owners read out of the newspaper that there was another litter of kittens two blocks down the street. So they went two blocks down and at the second house on the left there were 10 more kittens. The oldest of the kittens said to the tallest of the kittens, "Would you like to come with us to Mars?" "Oh yes!" they all answered together, "The only problem is we don't have any clue how to get there." "We do," the kittens shouted. So they all went together. And sure enough, they found the space launch. So they got on and blasted off into space. How many kittens went into space? 16 + 10 = ?
