The title "Group of One" is inspired by the troupe of Canadian painters who lived and travelled throughout Canada in the 1930's and 1940's. They formed under the functional title: "Group of Seven". Although there were more than seven members in the troupe by the time the group became defunct, they artistically evolved and incorporated more members as some died or left the group.
