Nimrod's Fortress in Northern Israel - Posted 30 August 1997

Nimrod's Fortress is located in the foothills of Mt. Hermon. This 13th Century Crusader fortress affords a spectacular view of the northern Galilee. Its many archways and sunken rooms provide the avid photographer with plenty of interesting shots.

Nimrod Fortress

The front of the fortress sports high walls and a jumble of rocks.

Arch in courtyard

This arch from Nimrod is in the courtyard to which the former doorway leads. Massive rocks form this wonderful niche.

Arched Doorway

This arched doorway leads through to the front coming out high on the courtyard in the former photo.

Stairs

Light plays on the stairs, lending a feeling of mystery and hope. A cool, underground room is exited by means of this marvelous, textured passageway leading up to the light, a fitting end to our brief tour of Nimrod.

Sights from the Golan Heights - Posted 25 July 1997

The Golan Heights is a marvelous place to hike and photograph. This high plateau hosts some breathtaking views such as the one below, and some interesting antiquities.

The following three photos are in Gamla on the Golan. The rock formations are dolmens which are thought to be prehistoric burial monuments from the stone age.
