Finnegan's Week, Joseph Wambaugh (Morrow, 1993) ***

Pure entertainment! This fun novel is a police-procedural/mystery set entirely in 1991 San Diego and Tijuana. There's theft, illegal dumping of hazardous wastes and murder, all leavened with some hilarious one-liners. It's light reading which could make a cross-country airline flight almost enjoyable.  And that's saying a lot!
