Autumn Clearing Mirror This mirror will be featured in the 2005 season of HGTV's "That's Clever!" December 7th, 2005 This design came out of hand-stretching canvas for my paintings. After working with a few different shear fabrics, I decided on a very light silk gauze. Block printed with leaves in autumn colors, the silk is stretched in front of a layer of branches cut from hardboard panel. The panel is then backed in gold or copper leaf, shown in the mirrors reflection. A moiré affect is formed from the layer of stretched silk and its reflection in the mirror. A happy accident of the design process, it now represents wind currents and adds to an overall theme of natural movement. outside dimensions 25" square functional mirror size 10" or 12" square Made from silk, acrylic, 1/8" or 1/4" hardboard panel, gold or copper leaf, glass mirror and red oak.
