I Am Well Aware of My Shoes

They're black, patent leather
too big for my feet
so they slip, allowing my ankles to give,
making me appear drunk
even as I walk that cobblestone street
mid-afternoon.
Stumbling on chunky heels, losing control of my toes
but I like them.
They power my walk, my feet
feel stronger, more violent
like I could kick you
and you'd finally feel me.
