*Stars*

Stars,
the little plastic ones,
dance across your ceiling
You point out the Gemini Twins
Castor and Pollux
who seem so far off
so high up
like I couldn't
stand up here
balancing my bare legs
cramming my toes,
long and cold and bony
under your back
as you lie there.
Your fingers
wrapped
around my pale calves
for support
balancing on old mattresses
two stacked
for the bounce-factor,
And I reach,
arms above my head,
stretching
to touch your sky.
