The Sun and the Moon

The full moon rises as the sun goes down
The stars begin to show their light
Bright lights appear at ground level, too
Preparing for the onset of night

As the moon sits on the horizon
Behind silhouettes of trees
It appears to be so yellow
Like it really is made of cheese

As the moon rises higher and higher
It appears to be more and more white
It's like a flashlight in God's hand
Helping us find our way at night.

The full moon fades when the sun returns
From the other side of the earth
The birds call out to welcome it back
Every sunrise is a new day's birth
