Camera collecting is like any other hobby in that it reflects the personality of the collector.  But collecting also requires an appreciation of the workmanship, style, and culture of a bygone time.
I primarily, collect two types of cameras: the Brownie line of Kodak cameras and all of the Argus cameras.  I chose to collect these cameras because of their simplicity, endurance, and purpose.  These cameras were built for the masses (like the inexpensive point and push cameras built today) but were also built to last.  I also pick up other cameras that catch my eye (some are collectors items, some are not).  Every camera in my collection is in operational condition.  Now this does not mean they are in perfect condition, they are not, but film can be loaded and shot successfully.
