El Salvador is the smallest country in Central America-roughly the size of Massachusetts. It is 260 kilometers long east to west, 100 kilometers of Pacific coastline. It's conceivable to drive the length of the country in a day, although the roads may dictate otherwise. El Salvador's size and shape has earned it the affectionate nickname El Pulgarcito (The Little Thumb) of Central America.
