Art and Teaching -- Why they Mesh so Well with Me

I enjoy creating my works, learning about new artistic methods, and continually developing my abilities. The one rewarding aspect missing from my love affair with art is the interpersonal component. I enjoy working with people, but I am usually alone with my work. Working as an educator has helped me to gain that need for interaction. I love the reward of teaching how to create something different from ever before and teaching a process that they will carry for the rest of their lives.

Obviously there is more to teaching than the students but the students make it all worth the while. My experience has also shown me that Teachers build a close knit comraderie together, especially at the Higher Education Systems. The students complementing each others' skills not only in the classroom but also in the Studio, while working each of the students in a high energy setting, helps everyone envolved, even the Teacher. In my next job I hope to find such a dynamic place where I enjoy the people as much as I have enjoyed the very talented people with whom I've worked in the past.
