Jonathan and Frances (Edwards) Whipple

Jonathan Whipple was born about March 15, 1678/79 in Ipswich, Massachusetts to Joseph and Sarah (Fairchild) Whipple.

Frances Edwards was born about 1682, also in Ipswich, to John and Mary (Sams) Edwards. There is conflicting information about her birth date: October 10, 1681 and September 30, 1682 are indicated by different sources.

Jonathan and Frances were married July 14, 1702 in Ipswich. They had a son, Francis Whipple, believed to have been born in 1705.

On May 8, 1709, Jonathan sold land in Essex County, Massachusetts to his brothers. The land had previously belonged to his father.

The couple had two more children: Edward Whipple, born in 1722 and Paul Whipple, born in 1722 or 1723.

The couple joined the Evangelical Congregational Church in Westboro, Massachusetts in 1734.

In 1735, Jonathan became a Selectman in Westboro. He was the moderator of the March town meeting in 1736.

Jonathan and Frances died in Westboro less than three months apart, he on April 2, 1757 and she on June 26,1757.
