Themes
Suicide is one of the themes in this play.  In the end of act 4, Ophelia decides
to kill herself.  She jumps out of the window and into the river below, drowning
herself.  This could be caused by many things, the break up of her and Hamlet
and Hamlet killing her father, are some reasons.

Another theme is--the individual and his environment.  This could be related to
any of the characters.  With Hamlet; he is a strong person, always fighting for
himself. While his society is always fighting against him, (he has to be strong to
hold his own in his world).  Claudius is just plan cruel and his environment is, in
the end, cruel to him.  By having his murder revealed and Gurtrude killed in the
end.

Hate is a theme for Hamlet, too.  Not only does it apply to Hamlet verse Claudius
but also Hamlet verse Laertes.  Both Claudius and Laertes want Hamelt dead.
Claudius' hate for Hamlet though, is driven more by Hamlet letting him know he killed
his father and wants to keep the thrown from Hamlet.  Laertes is more because
Hamlet killed his father, Polonius.
