JENNI HECKENDORF

Education :

Jenni is a first year student in Dip. Visual Arts majoring in photomedia at the Canberra School of Art.

This statement describes one of her pieces.

"Little Jenni(2) again uses the three source pictures "Byron Surf", "Jenni 12 years" (arms) and "Dave and Jen" (legs) with an extra image of myself sitting on a piece of carpet when I was around 8 years old. Here I am wearing leg irons with is my touch of technology, shaded my big Jenni. I have added an extra layer, the foam from (3) Byron Surf. Arms (left) and legs (right) have ben blended together my changing colour, again using variations.

Concept

I'm riding the wave in on my magic carpet looking naivete at the my freedom of my legs moving as if they had been from my past. My personal interpretation of freedom in water verses the restriction technology has given me in leg irons. Water has played a very important part in my life. When I was younger and allot more able water meant freedom, fun and often new friendships. At the beginning of this semester I was reluctant to express my true feelings by wasing to use symbols, icons, masks and filters. Little Jenni(2) was just a tiny part of my images now she is in the foreground of moving limbs in clear blue natural water.
