Chapter 5: Story

Story as a Journey: conflict and connection--The first paragraphs say this well, and JB informs us that the journey can happen at home or within ourselves.

If you do the try this on page 180-81 remember the journey could even be the conflict and connection brought about by a small thing like eating a cookie (M. Proust) or a few plums (W. C. Williams).

Story as a Power Struggle: Tension

Who or what are we for? Who or what are we against? Does this change?
What will be the outcome?

Story as Connection and Disconnection: 1st paragraph is essential (184).
Classical pattern is explained and drawn out in an inverted check mark.

Notes:
What do you find important enough to discuss in class?
